After the A’s clinched the AL West last month, Sean Manaea said he was eager for another chance at a playoff start given the result of his outing in last year’s AL wild-card game.
“One thousand percent,” said Manaea, who allowed four runs in two-plus innings in that loss to Tampa Bay. “Definitely want to get back out there and prove that I can pitch in the postseason.”

He had to wait a bit longer than anticipated. Manaea was lined up to possibly pitch in Game 3 of last week’s wild-card series, but the A’s held him out against a White Sox lineup that thrived against left-handers. His chance for a playoff bounce-back instead arrives Tuesday in Game 2 of the AL Division Series against Houston.
