It may not share its name with the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport, but the new compact unibody 2022 Ford Maverick pickup shares a lot with its crossover stablemate. As we saw in our detailed first look of the Maverick, the C2-platform-based truck is heavily related to the Bronco Sport and Escape, including its powertrain options. And that similarity extends to the color selection, with a broad overlap between the paint colors offered on the Bronco Sport and the Maverick—with a few notable exceptions.

Mostly these exceptions go in the Maverick's favor; several of the truck's colors are not available on the Bronco Sport, such as Hot Pepper Red (an extra-charge color) and Velocity Blue. These bold colors work well on the Maverick's tidy, compact, truckish lines; hopefully at least Velocity Blue will eventually migrate to the Bronco Sport build sheet.

But if you had your heart set on a brown-painted Maverick, you're out of luck for now. The surprisingly handsome mahogany-esque tone Ford calls Kodiak Brown and sells on the Bronco Sport isn't available here. Perhaps that will change in the future.

Read on to find out more about what exterior color options you can choose on the 2022 Ford Maverick.
