How Manchester United vs Chelsea played out draw in the Premier League tonight

Cristiano Ronaldo rescued a point for Manchester United again, as they salvaged a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford.

Marcos Alonso's brilliant volley had put a dominant visiting side ahead on the hour mark, but an instant response from United's talisman helped them avoid another defeat at home.

Chelsea were on top for the majoirty of the evening, with Mason Mount and Reece James combining well throughout.

The chances in the first half fell to Kai Havertz, who was denied twice by David De Gea,

James hit the post late on as Thomas Tuchel's side pushed for a winner, but there was no late drama for either side.

The result puts the visitors six points clear of fourth-placed Arsenal with five games to go, whereas United are five points off the Champions League places having played a couple games more.

Honours even in this one, as Old Trafford sees a bit of fight from their side in a 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

Marcos Alonso opened the scoring on the hour mark, but an instant reply from Cristiano Ronaldo saw the points shared.

The result doesn't change things too much for United, whereas Chelsea took a small step towards securing their Champions League status again.
